Pennsylvania SR-22 Requirements: Who Needs One and for How Long
An SR-22 is not insurance. It is a certificate your insurer files with the state to prove you carry coverage.

Pennsylvania has no SR-22. PennDOT works from the insurance I.D. card and from cancellation notices insurers must send it, and the regulations list the documents it will accept as proof: the I.D. card, the policy declaration page, a valid binder, or a signed Pennsylvania Automobile Insurance Plan application.

- Registration suspended for three months
A lapse suspends the vehicle registration for three months unless it lasted under 31 days and you prove the vehicle was not driven. A $500 civil penalty can be paid in place of the suspension, once per 12 months.
