Ohio Crash Reporting Requirements
Reporting duties kick in at a dollar threshold that is lower than most drivers expect.

A crash involving a fatality, personal injury, or property damage of more than $1,000 is reported to the Ohio Director of Public Safety.

Five days. The deadline falls on the investigating law enforcement agency, not on the driver.

Ohio has no driver's self-report form for ordinary crashes — the police agency files the report. Separately, anyone involved in a crash may send the BMV a report within six months alleging that another driver or owner was uninsured (ORC 4509.06).
