Georgia Crash Reporting Requirements
Reporting duties kick in at a dollar threshold that is lower than most drivers expect.

A crash must be reported if anyone is injured or killed, or if property damage looks like $500 or more.
- Submit to
- Local police, county sheriff, or State Patrol
Report immediately, by the quickest means available: the local police department if the crash is inside a municipality, otherwise the county sheriff or the nearest State Patrol post. Georgia has no driver-filed form to mail in later — law enforcement writes the report and files it with the Department of Transportation.
